About
This digital work derives from a project conceived for a public square in 1972 by Santo Alligo and subsequently created as a sculpture in metal and aluminum in 2017. The graphic impact of the work is very strong: it first causes smile, surprise, amazement in the observer; but after a deeper reflection on the semantic aspect - drawing a square with a compass - the reference to man and his finiteness is immediate: the idea of trying to do something impossible opens the door to reflections on the limits of the human being. The new out-of-this-world scenario makes everything even more surreal emphasizing the already strong paradox.
